2027 season reservations are now open. We recommend booking early — spray windows during peak growing season fill up fast, especially for time-sensitive applications like fungicide and herbicide treatments. Reach out now to secure your preferred dates.

Question 5

Is drone spraying better than traditional ground spraying?

Accepted Answer

Drone spraying offers several advantages over traditional ground equipment. Drones can access wet, muddy, or uneven fields without causing soil compaction or crop damage. They apply product with precision, reducing chemical waste and overlap. For fields with obstacles, irregular shapes, or standing water, drones are often the only practical option. That said, the best method depends on your specific field conditions — we're happy to discuss what makes sense for your operation.

Question 6

How does drone spraying compare to aerial crop dusters?

Accepted Answer

Drone spraying offers much greater precision than traditional fixed-wing crop dusters. Our drones fly at low altitude (typically 6–15 feet above the canopy), delivering targeted application with minimal drift. There's no need for a landing strip, and we can treat smaller or irregularly shaped fields that crop dusters can't efficiently cover. Drones are also quieter and have a smaller operational footprint.

Question 7

Will drone spraying damage my crops?

Accepted Answer

No — our drones are designed specifically for agricultural application. We fly at controlled altitudes and speeds to ensure even coverage without disturbing the crop canopy. The downwash from the rotors actually helps penetrate the canopy for better coverage on dense crops. We calibrate every application to your specific crop type and growth stage.

Question 8

What crops can be sprayed by drone?

Accepted Answer

We can spray a wide variety of crops including corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, vegetables, orchards, vineyards, and specialty crops. Drones are especially effective for row crops, orchards with tight spacing, and fields with irregular terrain or wet conditions that limit ground equipment access.

Question 9

What types of products can you apply?

Accepted Answer

We can apply herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, foliar fertilizers, and biological products — provided the product label permits aerial application. We work with you and your agronomist to confirm label compliance before any application. We do not apply products that are restricted to ground application only.

Question 10

Can you do aerial seeding by drone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In addition to liquid applications, we offer aerial seeding services for cover crops, overseeding pastures, and hard-to-reach areas. Drone seeding is ideal for fields that are too wet for ground equipment or areas with difficult terrain.

Question 11

Do I need a permit for drone crop spraying on my farm?

Accepted Answer

As the landowner or operator, you generally do not need a separate permit — that's our responsibility. Valen Aerial holds FAA Part 107 certification and is pursuing FAA Part 137 (agricultural aircraft operator) certification. We also carry NYS Pesticide Applicator certifications (Categories 11 and 1A in progress). We handle all required regulatory compliance so you don't have to.

Question 12

Are you licensed to spray pesticides in New York State?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We hold NYS Pesticide Applicator certifications (Categories 11 and 1A currently in progress) as required by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. All applications are performed in compliance with NYSDEC regulations and product label requirements.

Question 13

What FAA certifications do you hold?

Accepted Answer

Valen Aerial holds FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification, which is required for all commercial drone operations. We are also pursuing FAA Part 137 Agricultural Aircraft Operator certification. Our equipment is NDAA-compliant, meaning it meets federal procurement standards for security and reliability.

Question 14

How do I get a quote for drone crop spraying?

Accepted Answer

We provide custom quotes based on your acreage, crop type, application type, and field conditions. There's no one-size-fits-all pricing in agriculture — every field is different. Fill out our quote request form or call (518) 775-3447 and we'll put together an accurate estimate for your operation.

Question 15

What information do I need to provide for a quote?

Accepted Answer

To give you an accurate quote, it helps to know: total acreage to be treated, crop type and growth stage, type of application (herbicide, fungicide, seeding, etc.), target spray dates or window, and your property address or tax parcel ID. The more detail you can provide, the faster we can get you a number.

Question 16

What happens if weather prevents spraying on my scheduled date?

Accepted Answer

Weather is a reality in agriculture and we plan for it. If conditions aren't suitable on your scheduled date (wind, rain, temperature extremes), we'll work with you to reschedule as quickly as possible within your spray window. We monitor forecasts closely and communicate proactively so you're never left guessing.
